PRINCETON, N.J. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team fell to the Princeton Tigers on Friday afternoon, 5-2. The Big Green fell behind early at Hobey Baker Rink, and despite a strong showing in the second and third periods, could not overcome the Tigers in ECAC Hockey action.

"The girls did a great job of rallying after the first," assistant coach
Max Gavin said. "They stayed on task. By that time, we were trying to dig out of a hole that was tough. I was proud of how they responded in the second but there was a lot of ground to make up in those situations."
Princeton raced out to an early lead, as Mia Coene scored just 8:25 into the opening period to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Dartmouth struggled to contain its adversary, as Annie Kuehl extended Princeton's lead 64 seconds later on an unassisted tally.
A penalty was assessed to
Georgia Kraus, which allowed Princeton to tack on its third goal of the period. Kayla Fillier scored her first of the season on the power play to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Issy Wunder found the back of the net three minutes later, as Dartmouth trailed by four after the first frame.

Dartmouth's tenacity paid off with just 49 seconds remaining in the second. Fuoco sent a wrist shot toward the net, which was tipped in front by Donohue. The puck sneaked its way behind Olnowich to give the Big Green their first goal of the afternoon.
The Big Green continued to challenge Princeton into the early stages of the final period. Emerson came up large for her squad with 15:51 remaining in the third, as she stymied Princeton on a two-on-zero opportunity to keep the Big Green in the game.
Putrah repaid her netminder under three minutes later, as the senior battled in front of Princeton's net to tap in a rebound goal. The Big Green captain's fourth of the season trimmed the Tiger lead to two with 12:38 left to play.
Princeton halted Dartmouth's momentum with a goal moments later to extend the Big Green's deficit back to three. Huehl's second of the game was scored on a Dartmouth delayed penalty.
The Big Green could not overcome Princeton's lead and fell to 5-12-0 on the season with a 1-9-0 mark in ECAC Hockey contests. Princeton improves to 8-6-1 and 4-5-0 in conference tilts. The Tigers have bested the Big Green 10-straight times dating back to 2017 and hold a 53-32-7 advantage in the all-time series.
