HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's rugby team was outlasted, 30-15, by Lindenwood of the Collegiate Rugby Association of America on an overcast Saturday afternoon at Brophy Field.
The Big Green struck first and led midway through the opening half, but couldn't hold off the Lions, whose steady offense scored three tries in both halves. Neither side was able to make a conversion in a physical match in which kickers often dealt with tough angles.
Asialeata Meni had Dartmouth on top, 5-0, in the first 10 minutes of the match with her team-best sixth try of the season and Lindenwood had the answer less than five minutes later.
Katelyn Walker busted into the try zone for a 10-5 Big Green edge near the 27-minute mark, but the visitors responded with consecutive tries to end the first half.
Lindenwood had a 20-10 lead after scoring in the opening minutes of the second half and although Dartmouth fought back with
Paola Arredondo Almeida's try to come within five, two unanswered Lion tries were backbreakers.
The Big Green are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 21, hosting rival Harvard for a homecoming showdown set for 11 a.m. at Brophy Field. The rematch of the 2022 NIRA Final will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Kathleen Mulligan on the call.
