The Big Green participated through the Hanover Community Kitchen

HANOVER, N.H. — Last Friday, Apr. 28, the Dartmouth women's rowing team gave back to the community by cooking up a meal through the Hanover Community Kitchen. HCK is a club which sees student groups volunteer to cook meals for low income and elderly residents in the Upper Valley.
"At the beginning of this term, I signed our team up to help out at the Hanover Community Kitchen and people were excited to help out," said junior Jenna Martin. "I signed us up for a Friday dinner before Eastern Sprints in an effort to help out the community with team bonding and a delicious meal."
It was an opportunity for the Big Green to bond over helping others, something that can easily be forgotten in the midst of a busy academic and athletic schedule.
"Our team was more involved with community service my freshman year, which was still during the thick of COVID," said Martin. "Since we didn't have a regular fall or spring season, we were able to take more time participating in community service, but once COVID was in the rear view I think we lost touch with service."
Lost touch no more. Check out a photo gallery from the experience, below, along with more information on the Hanover Community Kitchen.

History:
The Hanover Community Kitchen (HCK), formerly Students Fighting Hunger (SFH), has been running in Hanover, New Hampshire since approximately 2012. The purpose of the club is to help feed those who need it every Friday and to foster community between those who come to the meals. Students Fighting Hunger transitioned to Hanover Community Kitchen in 2020 when it became COSO (Council of Student Organizations) recognized. Previously Students Fighting Hunger was operated by the Tucker Center for Social Impact until the Tucker Center cut funding for social impact clubs in 2018. Between 2018 and 2020 Students Fighting Hunger was operated by Our Savior Lutheran Church (OSLC).
COSO Statement of Purpose:
The Hanover Community Kitchen strives to create community across the dinner table by preparing weekly meals using donated supplies for local residents. Our goal is to build community in the Hanover area, foster culinary and interpersonal skills, and encourage service to others.
