ST. ALBANS, Vt. — The Dartmouth women's cross country team cruised to a team victory in the team's season opener at the UVM Invite on Saturday afternoon at the Hard'Ack Recreation Area in St. Albans, Vermont.
The Big Green finished with 15 points after the five scored runners claimed the top five spots in the meet. Vermont took second with 40 points.
Madeleine Locher led the way with a time of 17:35.50 to take first place in the meet.
Natalie Shapiro grabbed second with a time of 17:54 followed by
Bella Pietrasiewicz in third with a time of 18:04.20. Rounding out the scoring for Dartmouth was
Emily Levonas (18:08.20) in fourth and
Andie Murray (18:11.90) in fifth.
While they were not scored for the team total, the Big Green also claimed spots six, seven and eight in the event.
Evie Cohen took sixth with a time of 18:15.30 followed by
Mia Compton-Engle (18:18.80) and
Anna Banovac (18:24.70).
Dartmouth looks to carry the momentum into its home meet next weekend as the Big Green return to Pine Park for the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational next Saturday, September 9.
