HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth women's rugby team advanced to the NIRA Division I Championship on Saturday with a 47-33 win over Brown in the NIRA Semifinals.
Annie Henrich opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the game as she took a quick pass and split the Brown defenders for the try. She then lined up and hit the conversion.
The first-year was back in the try zone nearly six minutes later as she made it 12-0 before hitting the conversion to make it 14-0.
Shortly after the Big Green took the 14-0 lead, Brown tallied a try and a conversion to make it 14-7.
Four minutes later, the Big Green answered as Cindy Taulava powered into the try zone. Henrich converted her third conversion of the game to give the Big Green a 21-7 lead.
Playing in her final match at Brophy Field, Asialeata Meni found the try zone at the 33:30 mark of the opening half to push it to a 26-7 Dartmouth lead.
Brown ended the half with a try and a conversion, the first half ended with the Big Green lead 26-14.
About six minutes into the second half, Jordynn LeBeau scored her first collegiate try as she dove into the try zone to give Dartmouth a 31-14 lead. Henrich drilled the conversion to increase the lead.
The Bears responded shortly after with a try and a conversion of their own to cut the Big Green lead to 33-21.
Dartmouth answered back three minutes later as Katija Crawford powered into the try zone before Henrich drilled another conversion to make it 40-21 Dartmouth.
The final Dartmouth try of the day came from Katie Hansen while Henrich once again hit the conversion.
Brown made the final score a little closer with a try and conversion to at the end of the match.
Dartmouth has now advanced to the NIRA Championship the last four seasons.
The NIRA Championship will be hosted by Dartmouth at Burnham Field. Both the Division II and Division I Championship will be played at Burnham Field with the DII final starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23.
