NEW YORK, N.Y. – Kauany Gutz had 13 kills and tallied a .632 hitting percentage as the Dartmouth volleyball team came from behind in the third set to sweep Columbia 3-0 from Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium in New York City Friday evening.

Piper Stevens notched a career high five service aces in just two sets for the Big Green.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE:
- The teams exchanged scores throughout the beginning of the set with Dartmouth holding a consistent lead.
- Back-to-back aces from Stevens gave the Big Green a 20-15 lead and forced a Lions timeout.
- Dartmouth scored four to bring the score to set point, 24-16. Columbia was able to notch three straight but a kill by Ava Roberts secured the first set, 25-19. Â
SET TWO:
- Dartmouth opened the second set on a 5-0 run with two kills by Maddie LaFata and three Columbia errors.
- The Big Green followed that with a 9-0 run that included three aces from Stevens on eight straight serves, 16-3.
- Dartmouth continued to control the set and were able to take it, 25-12.
SET THREE:
- Columbia started the set on a 5-2 run. Four straight halfway through put the Lions ahead 18-13.
- Two kills from Gutz and one from Stevens and Roberts sparked a 7-2 run that tied the match at 20-20. An ace from Ellie Mattox and an error from Columbia gave the Big Green a 22-20 lead.
- A kill by LaFata completed an 8-0 run to close out the third set, 25-20.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Gutz led the Big Green with 13 kills.
- Emma Engstrom had a team high 11 digs.
- Stevens had five aces for Dartmouth, over half of the team's collective eight. The team's eight tied the last time they played Columbia in early October.
