LYNCHBURG, Va. — No. 65 Dartmouth, ranked for the first time since 2020, dropped a 6-1 decision on the road to Liberty on Friday afternoon to open a two-match slate in Virginia.
Miles Groom and
Waleed Qadir earned a convincing win at No. 3 doubles, but it wasn't enough to capture the point against the Flames, who were victorious at No. 1 and No. 2.
Groom went on to pick up Dartmouth's lone singles win, defeating Liberty's Matija Samardzic in three sets on Court 4.
Hikaru Takeda, making his first appearance at the No. 2 position, dropped a three-setter, and
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez fell in a super tiebreak on Court 1.
Dartmouth's Virginia trip continues on Saturday with another road test, a rematch with William & Mary, who defeated the Big Green 4-3 on the final day of the ECAC Championship.
