Setting the Scene
The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team hits the road on Saturday for the first time in Ivy League play when the Big Green play at No. 13 Princeton. Opening faceoff is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN+. Most recently, Dartmouth dropped a tight 11-8 final against 13th-ranked Penn. The Big Green took an early 5-3 second-quarter lead and the score was tied 6-6 at the half, but the Quakers pulled away in the third quarter.
One highlight from the Penn game was Dartmouth's extra man, which finished 4-for-4, its most man-up goals since Mar. 19, 2022 when the Big Green were also 4-for-4 against St. John's. Three of the goals came in the first 53 seconds of the second quarter on a non-releasable Penn penalty. Dartmouth was also 23-of-27 clearing against a Quakers' ride that was fifth nationally (in lowest opponent clearing percentage) entering the day. It also came amidst heavy snow that was falling the entire game.
A balanced offense saw eight different goal-scorers, with no one finishing with more than two points. Seniors
Peter Lapina and
Nate Davis and juniors
Quinn Moore and
Colin McGill all had a goal and assist while sophomore
Emmett Paradine dished two assists. First-year
Will Cohen tallied two groundballs and two caused turnovers, his seventh straight game with both a groundball and caused turnovers. He's up to 10 caused turnovers on the season, good for second on the team, only behind sophomore
Thomas Goguen's 11. Speaking of Goguen, he had a career-high seven groundballs with a career-high tying three caused turnovers against the Quakers.
Senior
Mitchell Myers finished 11-of-20 facing off with six groundballs, and is up to 466 career faceoff wins and 235 career groundballs.
The Big Green hit the road for the first time this Ivy League slate, but seventh time this season (including two neutral-site games).

Scouting Princeton
Princeton stands 5-3 on the season, 1-1 in Ivy League play. The Tigers best nonleague wins came at North Carolina and Rutgers. Princeton dropped a 15-14 final to Cornell in the conference opener, in a game that was decided in the final seconds, before a 14-11 victory at Harvard last weekend.

Zappitello Named to USILA National Team of the Week
Sophomore attackman
Hopper Zappitello was recognized on the USILA National Team of the Week following his stellar eight-point effort in the Feb. 24 win over Holy Cross. He was one of just 10 student-athlete recognized across the country and one of only two from the Ivy League.

Sophomore midfielder
Emmett Paradine was recognized by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association as a member of the preseason All-New England Second Team. Last season's Ivy League Rookie of the Year finished 2023 fourth on the Big Green in points with 27, tied for second in assists (9) and fourth in goals (18).

Four Pick Up Postseason Honors
Following a strong season of progress, four members of the Dartmouth men's lacrosse team were recognized with postseason Ivy League awards.
Emmett Paradine was named Rookie of the Year, the Big Green's first Ivy League major award winner since 2007. Senior
Mitchell Myers and junior
Nate Davis were both named second team All-Ivy while junior
Peter Lapina was named Academic All-Ivy.
Paradine becomes Dartmouth's fifth all-time Ivy League major award winner, all being Rookies of the Year. The others were Ari Sussman (2007), Jamie Coffin (2003), Brian Merritt (1994) and Jenkins Marshall (1981).
This also marked the first time Dartmouth had multiple players named first or second team All-Ivy in consecutive seasons since 2005-06. Myers was named to the first team and Daniel Hincks to the second team last season.
