SIGHTS SET ON A MIDWEEK WIN
Following a 1-2 record over the weekend against the Harvard Crimson, the Big Green return home for five straight games. They start the homestand by welcoming Holy Cross for a midweek nonconference match up on Tuesday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green travelled to Harvard for three Ivy League matchups last weekend, taking the middle game of the series. In game one on Saturday, Dartmouth got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a
Jackson Hower single. The Crimson then scored seven straight runs before Dartmouth was able to get back on the board in the sixth when
Max Zajec singled to score Freeman. The Crimson added two runs of their own in the eighth inning to win game one, 9-2.
In the middle game of the series, last weekend's hero,
Zackarie Casebonne opened the scoring with a grand slam in the fourth inning. They added a fifth run when
Kolton Freeman reached on an error to score
Tyler Robinson. The Crimson got one run back in the fourth before
Ethan Brown knocked his first home run of the season in the fifth inning to give Dartmouth a 6-1 lead. Harvard did not back down, scoring the next four runs but the Big Green were able to hang on and secure the 6-5 victory.
Dartmouth used the long ball again in the final game of the series, opening up a three-run lead in the third inning when Freeman hit a two-run shot. The Crimson offense roared back, scoring 10 runs before the Big Green got back on the board. They loaded the bases in the ninth inning and managed to push two runs across on groundouts, but ultimately fell in the series finale, 13-5.
