Big Green Remain Perfect With Win Over Sacred Heart

HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth women's rugby team improved to 4-0 on Saturday with a 32-16 win over Sacred Heart.

The first 15 minutes saw a lot of physical play but at the 15:05 mark of the first half, Katelyn Walker found the try zone. Walker took the ball on the far side of the field and outraced the Pioneers to the try zone to give the Big Green a 5-0 lead.

Sacred Heart tied the match at five at the 20:14 mark and then took an 8-5 lead at the 25:00 mark after a penalty kick.

Asialeata Meni gave the Big Green the lead back at the 34:53 mark as she raced her way into the try zone. Meni picked up a loose ball off a restart and split the Sacred Heart backline to give Dartmouth a 10-8 lead. Annie Henrich drilled the conversion to put the Big Green up 12-8.

Right before halftime at the 38:55 mark, the Big Green were awarded a penalty kick. Henrich gave Dartmouth a 15-8 advantage going into halftime.

Just over five minutes into the second half, Cindy Taulava found the try zone as she made one defender miss and powered through another to make it a 20-8 Dartmouth lead.

Sacred Heart responded with a try of their own and a penalty kick to cut the Big Green lead to just four with about 14 minutes remaining in regulation.

At the 71:00 mark of the game, the Big Green were awarded a penalty try to make it 27-16 Dartmouth.

The Big Green closed out the scoring at the 78-minute mark as Kellie Miller was the beneficiary of crisp passing. Dartmouth held the Pios off the board for the remainder of the game for the 32-16 win.

Dartmouth is now 4-0 this season, the Big Green have started 4-0 in three of the last four seasons. The Big Green and Pioneers have squared off three times in program history with the Big Green coming out on top in each matchup.

The Big Green now have a bye week before taking on rival Harvard in Cambridge on Saturday, Oct. 12.
