HANOVER, N.H. – Looking for their fourth straight EISA Carnival victory, the Dartmouth ski team enjoyed the comforts of Oak Hill and the Dartmouth Skiway, hosting the Dartmouth Carnival.
The Big Green earned four podiums, en route to collecting 459 points to lead the Dartmouth Carnival after one day of competition.
The Big Green saw success at Oak Hill, collecting three podium finishes across both the men's and women's Nordic races.
The men's 20K was led by
John Steel Hagenbuch who won the race with a 21:22.40. Just on his heels was teammate
Luke Allan who finished second, posting a 21:24.70.
Cooper Camp rounded out the top ten, finishing the 20K with a time of 22:08.90.
Dustin Hay (22:40.90) and
Asa Chalmers (22:41.90) finished back-to-back, earning 15
th and 16
th respectively.
Wally Magill (23:05.00),
Aidan Jacobus (23:25.50), and
Jack Lange (24:13.50) also finished the race for the Big Green.
The women were led by
Ava Thurston, winning the race by over 30 seconds, posting a 24:15.90. Thanks to
Tatum Witter in fourth place (25:00.5) and
Emma Reeder in fifth place (25:03.80), the Big Green earned three of the top five finishers.
Just behind was
Evie Walton who finished seventh, posting a 25:15.30 to round out the top ten.
Amelia Tucker (25:59.70),
Virginia Cobb (26:56.60), and
Hannah Chipman (29:21.50) also raced for the Big Green.
At the Dartmouth Skiway, alpine skiers raced the Slalom, instead of the originally scheduled Giant Slalom due to weather.
On the men's side,
Benny Brown was the first Big Green finisher, placing seventh with a 1:34.93. Right behind was
Oscar Zimmer, posting a 1:35.11, good for eighth place.
Dan Gillis (1:35.67) and
Oliver Morgan (1:36.49) finished in 15
th and 20
th respectively to round out the top 20.
Jordan Simon (1:39.14) also finished the race for the Big Green.
The women were led by
Zoe Zimmermann, who's 1:40.87 was good for second overall.
Carly Elsinger posted a 1:41.50 to place sixth overall.
Sammi Trudeau (1:43.01),
Izzy Washburn (1:43.40), and
Emma Resnick (1:43.77) also placed in the top 20.
Riley Grosdider was the final member of the Big Green to finish the race, posting a 1:45.01.
The Big Green are back in action for the second day of the Dartmouth Carnival Saturday. Nordic skiers will race the 7.5K while alpine will race the Giant Slalom.
