CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Big Green retook the field against the No. 10 Virginia Cavaliers Saturday, seeking their first win of the season. Despite the game being locked at one following three innings, the Cavaliers broke away offensively in the fourth, going on to defeat the Big Green, 11-1.
The Cavaliers opened the scoring in the first inning, leading off the inning with a double. A ground out to advance the runner to third and a sacrifice fly scored the run putting Virginia up 1-0.
Dartmouth responded in their half of the third inning.
Taer Rodriguez singled before coming around to score on an
Elliot Krewson double to make the score 1-1 through three innings.
In the fourth inning, Virginia plated five runs on five hits, knocking three singles and two doubles to take a 6-1 lead over the Big Green. The Cavaliers would go on to score five more runs, at least one run in each of the final four innings to earn the 11-1 victory.
Eddie Albert got his second start of the season on the mound for the Big Green, giving up seven runs, six earned in five innings pitched. Albert Also fanned four batters.
Danny Will pitched in relief, allowing four runs on six hits in 2.2 innings pitched. Will dealt three walks and fanned two.
