NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Dartmouth baseball team took to the diamond for the series finale against the Columbia Lions Sunday.

Despite coming from behind multiple times to tie the game, the Lions earned the walk off victory, defeating the Big Green, 9-8.
Â
Pitching for both teams was dominant through the first four and a half innings.
Bryce Loeger collected two one-two-three innings and allowed only three hits through four innings.

The Lions finally figured out Loeger in the fifth, opening a two-run lead on a home run to right center field.
Â
Dartmouth responded in the top of the sixth inning, plating four runs to take a 4-2 lead.
Ethan Brown led off the inning with a double. With one out,
Chris Miller knocked a double of his own, scoring Brown to cut the Lions' lead in half.

After recording another out,
Axel Riess drew a walk, putting runners on first and second with two outs.
Zackarie Casebonne then singled to center field to score Miller but a fielding error in the outfield allowed Riess to score from first base and advance Casebonne to third. A wild pitch then brought him home, giving the Big Green a 4-2 lead.

The Lions powered back, in their half of the inning, scoring three runs on four straight hits , two singles and a double to take a 5-4 lead over the Big Green.

Dartmouth continued to capitalize on Lions' errors in the seventh inning. Brown drew a walk with two outs, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and came home when
Luke Carroll reached on a fielding error, tying the game at five runs apiece.

Columbia once again battled back, plating three runs on three hits, including a two-run home run to take an 8-5 lead over the Big Green.

The Big Green were able to get a run back in the top of the eighth. Riess singled with one out before coming around to score on a double by the Ivy League batting average leader,
Taer Rodriguez. Rodriguez now owns a 15 game hitting streak.

The comeback continued for the Big Green in the ninth, as Dartmouth was able to plate two runs on three hits and a walk.

Elliot Krewson led off the inning with a single before coming around to score on another Brown double.
Jackson Hower then collected his first hit of the day, bunting to score Brown from third base and tie the game.

In the bottom half of the ninth, Columbia led off the inning with a double. The baserunner than advanced to third on a wild pitch and came home to score on a sacrifice fly as the Lions defeated the Big Green, 9-8.

On the mound, Loeger allowed eight runs on 13 hits in 6.2 innings. He fanned two and did not allow a walk.

Kyle Klaric-Schell pitched the final 1.2 innings for the Big Green, allowing one run on one hit, taking the loss. He fanned one and dealt two walks.

The Big Green will play one more road game, a midweek nonconference match up with the Holy Cross Crusaders Tuesday, before returning home for a three game series with the Cornel Big Red next weekend. Dartmouth will honor its seniors next Saturday between the two games of Saturday's doubleheader.
