HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's hockey wrapped its 2025-26 regular season home slate against the #8/#6 Quinnipiac Bobcats, Saturday. The two teams played a back-and-forth, fast paced game, but the Bobcats came out on top, 3-0.
Dartmouth and Quinnipiac played evenly through the first 20 minutes. In an end-to-end frame,
Jiahui Zhan made 15 saves in net for the Big Green while Felicia Frank of Quinnipiac tallied four. The game was scoreless until the final two minutes of the period, when the Bobcats found the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead.
It remained a one goal game until late in the second period. With just under five minutes to play before the intermission, the Bobcats doubled their lead.
Quinnipiac added one more goal in the third period to make it 3-0 and defeat the Big Green.
Despite the result, Head Coach
Maura Crowell was overall happy with the way her team performed.
"A great performance by the team. We talked about some specific areas from last night to today, and I think we implemented those really well," Crowell said. "We gave everything we had… We cleaned up back checking, d-zone coverage was good. We were getting at their goalie, had some good looks, power play was better."
Defensively, the Big Green continued to impress, tallying 19 blocked shots, two more than they did on Friday against #7/#6 Princeton.
"We're always a defensive team. That's part of our identity. I think we've elevated in the past couple weeks," Crowell said. "We want to make [Jiahui] comfortable back there and get her playing her best and this happens when a different goalie goes in; you heighten your awareness of shot blocking and doing what you can to tighten up the d-zone."
Zhan finished the evening with 33 saves, including double digits in the first (15) and the third (12).
Offensively, Crowell liked her team's creativity and effort, even though the Big Green were unable to convert.
"We worked so hard, especially below the goal line in the first and second. Working hard, coming up with pucks. We just have to attack it a little bit differently sometimes," Crowell said.
As Crowell continues to build Dartmouth women's hockey, she praised the Class of 2026 on the Big Green's senior day.
"I call them great soldiers," Crowell said. "They do what they're supposed to do. They hold the standards high in the program. They love hockey. They bring a ton of passion to the ice, and they're great role models for younger players."
With the home slate of regular season games concluded, Dartmouth will turn its focus to Union and RPI, the final weekend of regular season hockey. Puck drop at Union on Friday, February 13 is set for 3 p.m. before the regular season concludes against the Engineers on Saturday, February 14.
