BATON ROUGE, La. – The Dartmouth baseball faced the Grambling State Tigers in a neutral site game, Saturday, winning the first ever matchup between the two programs, 12-11. The Big Green were powered to victory thanks to a five run fourth inning.

The Big Green now move to 2-4 on the season.

Nate Isler got the start for Dartmouth and impressed from his first pitch, fanning the side in the top of the first. Nico Bañez led off the bottom half of the inning, reaching base on an error. He advanced to second on a passed ball before stealing third, putting a runner in scoring position with no outs.
Taer Rodriguez drove him in on a ground out, giving Dartmouth the 1-0 lead.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the second inning, but Isler added two more strikeouts to get out of the jam. In the Dartmouth half of the inning, the Big Green had two on with one out, but the Tigers' starting pitcher also recorded the last two outs of the inning via strikeout.

Dartmouth added to its lead in the third inning, plating three runs. The Big Green loaded the bases with no outs on three free passes, before a fourth drove in a run, making it 2-0.
Axel Riess bounced into a double play, but forced another Dartmouth run to score.
Henry Murray followed with a single to center field, scoring
Stefan Di Corrado who walked earlier in the inning, making it 4-0 Dartmouth.

Grambling State got one run back in the fourth, thanks to a leadoff walk and double but the Big Green were ready to respond.
Sam Andersen reached on an infield single to start the inning before
Alejandro Puig beat out a fielder's choice. Bañez advanced both runners before Rodriguez drove them both home with a single to center field.

A.J. DeMastrie and Riess drew walks to load the bases, giving way to Murray who recorded his second and third RBI of the day, singling to right field.
Camden Rush also knocked a single to score Riess, making it a 9-1 game.

Over the next two innings, the Tigers plated four runs. They scored three in the fifth after drawing two walks, being hit by a pitch, and recording two singles. In the sixth, Grambling State loaded the bases, but were only able to score one runner on a balk, making it a 9-5 game.

Grambling State continued to push offensively in the seventh, scoring three runs to make it a one run game. The Tigers pushed three runs across on two hits and an error, making it 9-8 headed into the bottom half of the seventh.

While Dartmouth was unable to score in the seventh, it added insurance runs in the eighth. Riess and Rush both drew walks, giving way for Andersen who knocked an infield single to score Riess. Puig also drew a walk to load the bases before Bañez ripped a two run single to left field, making it a 12-8 game.

Grambling State made one final push, scoring three runs in the ninth inning to pull within one, but Dartmouth held on for the 12-11 victory.

Isler got the start for the Big Green, allowing three runs on three hits with eight strikeouts.
Andrew Lombana made his first appearance of the season, followed by
Aidan Plummer who pitched a one hit, scoreless inning of relief, earning the win.

Kyle Klaric-Schell allowed one run on two hits in his outing, giving way to
Mac Burke who secured the final two outs of the sixth inning.
Marco Dumsky threw the next 2.2 innings giving up six runs, one earned on three hits and five walks.

Trey Sejnoha made his second relief appearance in as many nights, getting the one out asked of him and earning the save. Â
