PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Dartmouth baseball wrapped the first Ivy League series of the season at Penn this weekend, falling in the final game of the three-game set, 5-2.

With the loss, the Big Green fall to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in Ancient Eight play.

Dartmouth once again opened the scoring, this time taking a two-run lead in the second inning. With one out.
Sam Andersen drew a walk, advancing to third thanks to a
Taer Rodriguez single. Rodriguez later stole second base, putting two runners in scoring position with one out.

Stefan Di Corrado then sent a ground ball to third base, but Andersen beat the throw home, giving the Big Green a 1-0 lead.
Camden Rush also singled in the inning scoring Rodriguez to make it a 2-0 game.

Over the next two innings, the Big Green only allowed one Quakers baserunner, but Penn was able to pull even in the fourth. The Quakers put two runners in scoring position with no outs thanks to a single and double, before a ground out and another double tied the game at two.

Both teams traded baserunners over the next few innings, but it was the Quakers that were final able to push one across home. They broke the tie in the sixth thanks to a solo homerun that just squeezed fair. Penn would add one more run in the inning, taking a 4-2 lead thanks to two additional hits, a hit by pitch, and a Dartmouth error.

The Quakers added an insurance run in the seventh, making it a 5-2 game thanks to another Big Green error.

The Big Green threatened to score in the eighth.
A.J. DeMastrie reached on an infield single and Andersen drew another walk before both runners advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch.
Chris Miller entered the game as a pinch hitter, drawing a walk to load the bases with two outs, but the Big Green were not able to send anybody home.

Dartmouth pressured again in the ninth
Austin Moran, the leadoff hitter, reached after being hit by the pitch.
Alejandro Puig bounced into a fielder's choice, taking his spot on the base path, but an error sent him to second.
Nico Bañez drew a walk to put two on with one out, but a double play ended the inning and secured the win for Penn.

Marco Dumsky started the game for the Big Green, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings of work. He walked one batter but fanned five.

Mac Burke pitched the next 1.2 innings out of the bullpen, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits. Burke added three strikeouts.

Kyle Klaric-Schell closed the game for the Big Green, tossing a perfect 1.1 innings. He fanned one.

The Big Green will continue Ivy League play next weekend, returning to Hanover and Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park for their first home games of the season. Dartmouth will host Columbia for a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28. First pitch is set for 11:30 a.m.
