Pam Anckermann will serve as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's squash teams for the third year in 2025-26.
“Pam has been a part of the College Squash Association for years, and her knowledge, coaching skills and squash experience is going to be a great value add to our teams,” Douglas A. Donahue Jr. 1973 Head Coach of Men's and Women's Squash Vikram Malhotra said. “Having worked with Pam in the past, I can say that her personality and enthusiasm make her the right fit for our program, and we are delighted to have her be a part of Dartmouth squash.”
Anckermann, a native of Guatemala City, Guatemala, comes to Dartmouth following a stint as the head squash coach at Denison University. During her time with Denison, she was instrumental in the formation the women’s squash program.
Under her leadership, she led the program’s transition from club to varsity status prior to the 2020-21 season, which was canceled due to COVID-19. She coached both programs through their first varsity seasons in 2021-22, which was highlighted by wins in men’s squash over nationally ranked programs Fordham and Ohio State. She also assisted in the programs’ acceptance into the Liberty League for the 2022-23 season.
Prior to her time as a coach, Anckermann was a decorated squash player at both the collegiate and international levels. As a student-athlete at Mount Holyoke College, she was the No. 1 player for the program for four seasons and helped her team to a No. 11 national ranking. She concluded her time at Mount Holyoke College as the program’s all-time leader in wins.
Following her senior season, she earned the Betty Richey Award. The award is presented annually by the College Squash Association to “the women’s college squash player who best exemplifies the ideals of squash in her love and devotion to the game, her strong sense of fairness and her excellence of play and leadership.”
From 2009-2013, Anckermann played professionally in the Women’s International Squash Association. During her time in the professional circuit, she reached a world ranking as high as No. 127.
As a representative for the Guatemala National Team, she played No. 1 for 12-straight years. She played in two Pan-American Games in 2011 and 2015 and helped Guatemala qualify for the World Team Championships for the first time in program history.
“I’m thrilled to join the Dartmouth squash family,” Anckermann said. “Everyone has been so welcoming and has made me feel like I’m at home. I’m extremely excited about this opportunity. Vikram and Luke have set a high standard for the program, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a great coaching staff. I cannot wait for the season to get started!”
Anckermann earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mount Holyoke College in May of 2009.
