Before Dartmouth: Michael is a five-time letter winner in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track at Newton North High School...He was the captain of all three teams...As a junior and a senior he was the MIAA All State and D1 2 mile champion...As a senior he also won the D1 mile championship...Michael's senior year in cross country he was the EMass D1 Champion...His senior year in outdoor and indoor track he was named to the Bay State League team.

Personal: Michael is the son of David and Patti Schlitchting...He has two sisters.
