Before Dartmouth: Spencer was a four year letter winner in indoor and outdoor track and field...he captained the indoor track team junior and senior year and the outdoor track team his senior year...he won the State Section for indoor shotput junior and senior year and he won the State Section for outdoor shotput his senior year...additionally, he earned 1st team All County and 1st team All-North New Jersey for indoor and outdoor shotput his senior year.

Personal: Spencer is the son of Philip Ross and Maria Newman and has one brother and two sisters. His father competed as a wrestler at the University of Maryland. He is undecided about what he will study during his time at Dartmouth.
