Trevor Banks, a USSF A-Senior licensed coach, joined the Dartmouth men’s soccer program as associate head coach in March 2025.
Before arriving in Hanover, Banks spent two seasons at Yale, where he played a key role in recruiting, player development, and overseeing the defensive unit. During the 2023 campaign, he helped guide the Bulldogs to their first Ivy League Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth, where Yale earned its first NCAA victory since 1999 with a win over No. 19 Bryant.
While at Yale, Banks mentored seven All-Ivy selections, the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, the Ivy League Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, five Ivy League All-Tournament honorees, four United Soccer Coaches All-Region selections, seven College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recipients, and two Academic All-Ivy honorees.
Throughout his coaching career, Banks has mentored and helped develop more than ten players who have gone on to play professionally.
Prior to Yale, Banks served as head coach and sporting director of Michigan Stars FC in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). Under his leadership, the club recorded its most wins in a single season, led the league in goals-against average, and secured its first-ever playoff berth. He also guided five players to NISA Best XI recognition, qualified for the U.S. Open Cup, and captured the 2022 Independent Cup—the first trophy in club history.
Before his time in Michigan, Banks launched the men’s soccer program at Chicago State University, serving as the Cougars’ inaugural Division I head coach. In their first season, Chicago State recorded its first Division I win with a victory over Northwestern and achieved a team GPA of 3.3. While in Chicago, Banks also assisted with Chicago House AC of NISA, helping the team to a fourth-place finish in its debut season and mentoring two players to NISA Best XI honors.
From 2016–2020, Banks was the Zisson Family Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Brown University. During his tenure, he developed numerous standout players, including a College Soccer News Preseason All-American (Jack Hagstrom), three United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honorees, 19 All-Ivy selections, eight Academic All-Ivy recipients, and one United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American. As recruiting coordinator, he helped secure two Top Drawer Soccer Top 20 recruiting classes while helping the Bears break into the national Top 25 rankings twice.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Banks served as technical director and coach for Bruno United FC’s 2002 Elite NPL team, leading the club to the US Club Soccer Rhode Island State Championship and a historic run to the US Club Soccer National Cup finals in 2019.
Earlier in his career, Banks held coaching roles at Villanova, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the Long Island Rough Riders, and Barry University. He began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at William Woods University, where he earned his master’s degree in athletic administration in 2010.
A native of Carencro, Louisiana, Banks earned his bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2009.
