Men's Golf
vs Matthews Auto Collegiate
The Big Green hockey teams have started 2020 on a positive note. The men won the Ledyard classic to wrap up 2019, beating UConn in the final before traveling to Princeton for a 4-3 overtime win the following weekend. Drew O'Connor scored the winner in overtime. Freshman Celine Pietraszek had her first multi-point game in a shutout win over RPI.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Cape Air Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Drew O'Connor, So., Chatham, N.J., F, Men's Hockey
Heading into winter break, Drew O’Connor had a team-leading 10 points in Dartmouth’s 10 games. In the four games since returning from break, the sophomore forward has amassed seven more points and positioned himself as one of the top players in ECAC Hockey. In the Ledyard Classic, O’Connor scored three times — including the goal that sparked the comeback win against UConn in the championship — and finished with five points to earn all-tournament honors as he helped the Big Green to the title for the first time in four seasons. He continued his strong play this past weekend, scoring the OT game winner in front of family and friends at Princeton, while also picking up an assist on the team’s third-period power-play tally.
