Women's basketball began the Ivy season with a thrilling upset of rival Harvard on Saturday. Sophomore Katie Douglas stole the ball and directed it to teammate Annie McKenna for the winning bucket. On the ice the men's hockey team came from three goals down to upset Boston University, thanks in large part to the play of sophomore Drew O'Connor with a pair of goals.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Cape Air Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Drew O'Connor, So., Chatham, N.J., F, Men's Hockey
For the second straight week, Drew O’Connor made his mark on a big game for the men’s hockey team. This time, it was scoring a pair of goals in 47 seconds midway through the second period to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 win for the Big Green against visiting Boston University at Thompson Arena. O’Connor now has a team-leading 10 goals, a figure that ranks second in ECAC Hockey by just one despite playing in five fewer games than the first-place player from Quinnipiac. His three game-winning goals are the most by any ECAC Hockey player this season as are his 0.62 goals per game and 4.25 shots on goal per game numbers.
