HANOVER, N.H.- No. 2 Dartmouth erased a 2-0 deficit with three goals in the second period and went on to a 4-2 victory over No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth in women's hockey Saturday at Thompson Arena.
Sophomore Cherie Piper assisted on the Big Green's first two goals and tallied the eventual gamewinner at 19:35 of the second. Sophomore Gillian Apps also notched a goal and two assists and sophomore Tiffany Hagge added a goal and an assist.
Dartmouth (8-1-0) fell behind early in the first period. Jenny Potter banged the puck past freshman goalie Christine Capuano to put Duluth (8-4-0) up, 1-0, at 5:40. Caroline Ouellette blasted a wrist shot to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at 14:53 of the first.

Hagge tied the game with a wrist shot at 16:24 of the second, off a pass from Piper. At 19:35, Piper scored with a shot just under the crossbar to give Dartmouth its first lead of the game at 3-2. The Big Green held a 17-6 advantage in shots in the second period.
In the third, Dartmouth kept the pressure on. The Big Green held a 14-6 advantage in shots, and did not allow the Bulldogs many good scoring chances. Minnesota-Duluth's best chance came with 9:30 left, but Capuano kicked away a shot in front by Ouellette.Apps put the game away with an empty net goal at 19:23.
Capuano played strong in nets in only her second collegiate start. She stopped 18 of the 20 shots she faced and improved her record to 2-0.
Dartmouth held a 41-20 edge in shots. Duluth goaltender Riita Schaublin kept the Bulldogs in the game with 37 saves.
Dartmouth is off until a Dec. 12 game at New Hampshire at 7 p.m. The Big Green's next home game is Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. against Mercyhurst.
