HANOVER, N.H. -- Yale's Jenn Warden scored with 19 seconds left in regulation as the Bulldogs stunned No. 13 Dartmouth, 6-5, in Ivy League women's lacrosse action on Saturday.
Warden took a pass from Lara Melniker and then fired a bouncer that eluded Big Green goalie Devon Wills (Denver, Colo.), breaking the 5-5 tie. The Big Green won the draw and had a final rush at the Yale goal, but was whistled for charging.
The win evened Yale's record at 1-1 in the Ivy League and 4-4 overall. The matchup was the first Ivy game of the season for Dartmouth, the defending conference champion.
The game was tied, 3-3 at halftime. Trailing 3-1, Warden scored with 11:53 remaining in the period before Carli Vogler tied it with 2:44 on the clock.
The Bulldogs' Kat Peetz scored twice for a 5-3 lead with 23:40 to go, before Dartmouth's Jen Pittman added two of her own for a 5-5 tie with 6:33 left.
In the nets, Wills had six saves, while Yale's Ellen Cameron had eight stops.
For Dartmouth, junior Whitney Douthett (Newtown, Pa.) had one goal and two assists, while junior Sarah Szefi (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and senior Annie Leibovitz (Boulder, Colo.) both had one goal and one assist. Dartmouth, 3-3 overall, returns to action on Sunday, hosting Columbia at 1 o'clock on Scully-Fahey Field.
