Cornell Women's Lacrosse Upends Dartmouth, 13-8

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team was dealt a devastating loss Saturday when No. 12 Cornell downed the Big Green, 13-8.
The 16th-ranked Big Green fell to 2-2 in the Ivy League while Cornell improved to 3-1 in the conference. For Dartmouth, junior
Sarah Szefi (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and senior
Casey Hazel (Reisterstown, Md.) both scored two goals.
Dartmouth, 6-4 overall, quickly fell behind, 6-1, with 5:25 left in the first half as six different players tallied for Cornell. The Big Green's
Annie Leibovitz (Boulder, Colo.) scored with 1:51 left until halftime, closing the gap to 6-2.
Hazel and Szefi potted the first two goals of the second half, getting Dartmouth within two, 6-4. After a pair of Cornell goals, the Big Green reduced the lead to two once again, 8-6, on goals by senior Lizzy Cuneo (Summit, N.J.) and Hazel.
But the Big Red, 7-2 on the year, scored the next four for a commanding 12-6 lead with 3:49 to play.
Other Dartmouth goals came from senior
Kristen Zimmer (Alexandria, Va.) and junior
Margo Duke (Englewood, Colo.).
In goal, senior
Devon Wills (Denver, Colo.) made six saves for Dartmouth, while Cornell's Maggie Fava made 11.
The Big Green hosts Penn on Saturday, April 15 in a 1 o'clock game at Scully-Fahey Field.
