CAMDEN, N.J. - At the IRA Regatta on the Cooper River, the Dartmouth men's varsity heavyweight eight finished fifth in the fourth level final, good for 23rd place overall, while the Big Green lightweight varsity eight took second in the petite final, or 8th overall.
The heavies covered the course in 6:11.64, while George Washington won the fourth level final in 5:55.47. California won the grand final in 5:37.71 to claim the national title with Princeton capturing second and Brown taking third.
The Big Green lightweights finished in 6:01.86, while Georgetown won the petite final in 5:58.01. Cornell won the grand final in 5:42.71 to take the lightweight national title.
In the second varsity eight race, Dartmouth finished fifth in the third level final, or 17th overall, in 6:17.33. Michigan won the third level final in 6:05.13.
Dartmouth also had an entry in the freshman eight race. The Big Green was fifth in its semifinal in a time of 6:26.92, but did not advance to one of the top three finals.
In the men's open four with coxswain, Dartmouth captured second in the petite final, good for 8th overall. Harvard won the petite final in 6:44.48 to outdistance the Big Green's 6:47.34.
In the men's freshman four with coxswain, Dartmouth took fourth in the petite final, equivalent to 10th overall, in a time of 6:57.96. Rochester won the second level final in a time of 6:50.84.
Dartmouth also had an entry in the varsity pair without coxswain race. That Big Green combination took fourth in the petite final, good for 10th place overall, in a time of 7:12.9. Navy won the petite final in 7:06.38.
