Apps Honored By ECACHL

HANOVER, N.H. – Gillian Apps (Unionville, Ont.) was honored by the ECAC Hockey League as the Player of the Week for her work on the ice last weekend as the Big Green women's team knocked off two league opponents to remain the No. 1 team in the league.

For the second time this season, Apps was given Player of the Week accolades after putting up three goals on the weekend.

The captain scored the game's last goal in a, 4-1, win over Clarkson on Friday night, then extended her goal streak to three games when she netted two against St. Lawrence.

With just 18 seconds left in regulation and down by one goal, Apps scored her 23^rd goal of the season, sending the game into overtime.

Having tied their only two overtime contests this season, Apps was bound to come away with a win. Cherie Piper (Scarborough, Ont.) strung Apps on a breakaway, where she buried it halfway through the session, giving the Big Green the win over the Saints, who were ranked No. 6 in the nation.

After the weekend, Apps is the league's leading goal scorer with 24 goals in 21 games. Those numbers also put her in second place in the nation in goals.

The red-hot senior will lead the Big Green on the ice next weekend when they travel to Rensselaer and Union for a two-game league weekend.
