ALBANY, N.Y. - Dartmouth's David Jones (North Vancouver, B.C.), Ben Lovejoy (Orford, N.H.) and T.J. Galiardi (Calgary, Alta.) were given All-ECAC Hockey League Honors as announced today at a banquet in Albany, N.Y. for the ECACHL Championships. Jones was a unanimous first team selection while Lovejoy was placed on the third team and Galiardi was named to the All-Rookie team.
Ivy League Player of the Year, Jones continues to rack up the awards with his second straight All-ECACHL honor. Dartmouth's assistant captain has played in all 31 games this season and is leading the team with a career-high 42 points. He contributed four goals and 14 assists on the power play as he has 185 goals and 24 assists on the season. The Hobey Baker candidate ended the ECAC Hockey League's regular season as the leading scorer with 31 points enroute to his unanimous first team award. Along with first place in scoring he finished eighth in the ECACHL in goals scored, second in assists, third in power play points and seventh in gamewinning goals. Nationally he's fifth in scoring. Jones tallied 12 points in February helping his team to a 7-1 record, a third-place finish in the ECACHL and a share of the Ivy Title. It's the first Ivy Title for the Big Green since the 1979-80 season. Jones has also been ECACHL All-Academic for the past two seasons and he was an ECACHL Second Team honoree in 2005-06. He is close to his 100th point as he has 90 career points in 98 games.
Lovejoy earns his second postseason award of the season and second of his career with his placement on the All-ECACHL third team. The senior defenseman was recently named second team All-Ivy. Lovejoy is Dartmouth's top scoring defenseman with 21 points. He has seen time in all but one game this season, notching seven goals and 14 assists. Lovejoy has been a huge part of the Big Green's power play unit as he has recorded a team-high six power play goals. He was given a big honor recently as he was named a finalist for the Walter Brown Award which is presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.
Freshman Galiardi was placed on the league's All-Rookie team after a tremendous first year. He is fifth on his team in scoring with 27 points (12g, 15a). Galiardi has played in all 31 games and finished the season 14th in the ECACHL in scoring and third in freshman scoring. He is one of the Big Green's strongest scorers with the extra-man as he has recorded a team-high six power play goals. Galiardi is the first Dartmouth freshman to make the All-Rookie team since Nick Johnson in 2004-05.
