BRADENTON, FLA. – Lars Davis' four-hit day pushed the Illinois baseball team past the Big Green of Dartmouth, 5-2, today at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Davis kicked off his day going deep on Dartmouth pitcher Russell Young (Cleburne, Texas) in the team's third at bat. The Illini jumped out to an early, 3-0, lead in the top half of the first and held it until the third inning.

Jason McManis (Flower Mound, Texas) crossed the plate for the Big Green in the bottom of the third after Nick Santomauros (North Caldwell, N.J.) single to right field brought him home.

Illinois added another mark when an error on Erik Bell (Sierra Madre, Calif.) drove home Davis, and extended the Illini lead to 4-1.

The Big Green would score their only other run of the day in the bottom of the sixth inning after Andrew Nacario (Carlsbad, Calif.) took a single up the right side, scoring James Wren (Granbury, Texas).

The Illini would go on to score one last insurance run in the top of the ninth to cap off the days scoring and giving the Big Ten school their second win over the Big Green in five days.

Illinois pitching held the Big Green to just eight hits on the day, while they put up 12. Between Young and Kyle Zeis (Solana Beach, Calif.), the mound struck out four batters and walked none.

Dartmouth will be back in action against the Illini again tomorrow at the IMG Academy. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 am.
