Women's Crew Squares Off Against Yale, Minnesota, Boston

BOSTON ? The Dartmouth women's crew team had its second racing day of the season, taking on #4 Yale, #11 Minnesota and Boston University on the Charles River this morning.

Despite a temperature in the mid-30's, rowing conditions were great, with 4-6 mph winds and a small chop.

“Overall, we raced well and improved significantly since last week,” said Head Coach Wendy Levash. “All three varsity crews worked on improving their first 500 meters of the race in practice this week and that really showed in this morning's races.”

The Big Green finished a close third (6:59.78) in the Varsity 8 race, just behind Minnesota at 6:57.36. Yale, who is ranked No. 4 in the nation, won in 6:52.35. Minnesota is the nation's No. 11 team.

The Second Varsity 8 took third as well in 7:14.72, behind first-place Minnesota at 7:01.77 and second place Yale at 7:14.72. The Big Green was second to Yale in the Novice 8 at 7:29.22 and fourth in the Varsity 4 at 8:25.62.
