PROVIDENCE, R.I. ? The Big Green earned an 8-2 win in game one behind another great start from senior co-captain Russell Young (Cleburne, Texas), but fell to Brown, 18-6, in the nightcap in an Ivy League twin bill on Saturday.

Dartmouth moves to 15-10 on the season and has an 8-2 mark in Ivy play.

In game one, Young earned his fourth win of the year with a complete game. He gave up only two runs on eight hits, fanning two and walking only one. Young now leads the Big Green with a 4-2 mark.

Dartmouth was very productive from the plate with eight runs on nine hits. All but one batter in the lineup collected a hit, led by senior James Wren (Granbury, Texas), who earned a team-high two hits and a run batted in. Senior co-captain Damon Wright (Dallas, Texas) and junior Jack Monahan (Overland Park, Kan.) drove in two runs apiece for Dartmouth. Wright had a two-run single in the first and Monahan had a two-run double in the sixth inning.

Senior Erik Bell (Sierra Madre, Calif.) singled to open the game and after a wild pitch, a walk and a ground out, both Bell and junior Johnathon Santopadre (Vacaville, Calif.) scored a single up the middle by Wright to give the Big Green an early 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, Brown got one back when it loaded the bases and forced home a run on a fielder's choice. The Bears then tried a double steal and Dartmouth was ready as Monahan fired the ball to Bell who tossed it back to get a streaking runner from third to hold Brown to one run.

The Big Green extended its lead in the top of the third with a single run that pushed the lead to 3-1 Dartmouth. Bell reached after being hit by a pitch and went first to third on a ground out that hit off the pitcher's glove. He then scored on a single from junior Michael Pagliarulo (Winchester, Mass.)

Freshman Jeff Onstott (Houston, Texas) gave Dartmouth a commanding 4-1 lead in the fifth with a deep drive to left center for his second homerun of his first campaign with the Big Green.

Dartmouth added two runs in the sixth and seventh on Monahan's two-run double and a single from Wren and a wild pitch to push the advantage to 8-2 in favor of the Big Green after Brown got one back in the bottom of the sixth after a double from Matt Nuzzo and an RBI single by Conor Reardon.

In game two, Brown crossed the plate seven times in the first four innings and never looked back as the Bears earned the 18-6 win.

Sophomore Nick Santomauro (North Caldwell, N.J.) led the way with a 3-for-5 game with two RBI and two runs scored, including his third homer of the year. Pagliarulo collected two hits and an RBI in game two.

Dartmouth got on the board first with a single run in the top of the first. Santomauro blasted his third round tripper of the season deep to left center to give the Big Green an early 1-0 advantage.

Brown fired back with three runs of its own in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Matt Colantonio, to make it 3-1 after one.

After the Bears went up 4-1 after two, Brown plated three more runs in the fourth to push the lead to 7-1. Ryan Zrenda and J.J. Eno connected on back-to-back homers to make it 6-1 and Steven Daniels then tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Big Green got back into the game with four run sixth inning to cut the deficit to 7-5. Dartmouth got RBI singles from Pagliarulo and Wren, while Onstott connected on an RBI double down the line.

Brown added 10 runs in the final three innings to pull away for the 18-6 win.

Dartmouth and Brown hook up again tomorrow afternoon for the final doubleheader of the series, beginning at 12 p.m. at Murray Stadium.
