SACRAMENTO, CALIF. ? Dartmouth women's soccer senior goalkeeper Laurel Peak (Reading, Conn.) has been named a Women's Premier Soccer League Midwest All-Star.
Peak has spent her summer playing for the Middleton Yahara Soccer Club Lady Blues (Middleton, Wis.) as part of the Midwest League in the WPSL. The WPSL is a 51-team league that features five conferences and in just its first year of existence, Peak's MYSC team has advanced to the national final four. The team is an affiliate of the Chicago Red Stars, which will compete in the Women's Professional Soccer League when it begins next spring.
Peak earned her all-conference status after helping her squad to an 8-1-0 record including a big 1-0 upset of previously undefeated Brevard County Cocoa Expos in the regional finals. Peak and the Lady Blues travel to Sacramento, Calif. this weekend for the MPSL Final Four and will face Ajax America in the semifinals on Saturday.
Peak is not the only net-minder with a Dartmouth connection playing this summer. Former All-American goalkeeper Kristin Luckenbill '01 has helped her team, FC Indiana, to the W-League Final Four this weekend.
The all-conference announcement can be viewed here. Details about the WPSL Final Four are available here.
