HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's and women's cross country teams competed at the New England Championships on Saturday with the women running an excellent race to finished third, while the men took ninth.
The women scored 201 points for third place overall, while Brown took home the title with 130 points. The Big Green ended up placing third of a packed field of 49 teams.
Dartmouth was led by sophomore
Amy Schuman (Lee, N.H.), who ran a great race and finished eighth overall in the individual competition with a time of 18:15. She was joined by classmate
Elizabeth Short (North Reading, Mass.) and freshman
Katie Sullivan (Carmel, N.Y.) in the top-20. Short ran the course in 18:21, which was good enough for the 14th position, while Sullivan posted a time of 18:22 for 18th overall.
On the men's side, the Big Green took home ninth of 47 teams with 319 points, with Massachusetts earning the team title with 93 points. The top finisher for Dartmouth was freshman
Phil Royer (Portsmouth, R.I.), who crossed the line in 14th place with a run of 25:03.
The two teams will be back in action at Franklin Park next weekend as the Big Green take part in the Mayor's Cup on Saturday.
