HANOVER, N.H. - McGill University potted four goals in the third period to defeat the Dartmouth men's hockey team, 7-4 on Saturday evening in Thompson Arena.
McGill lit the lamp first early in the opening frame but rookies Mark Goggin (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Mike Keenan (Weymouth,
Mass.) each scored in the first and second to keep Dartmouth in the game.
Adam Estoclet (Orono, Minn.) pulled the Big Green ahead late in the second period but the lead was short-lived as McGill's Guillaume Doucet potted the first of his two goals as the two were knotted, 3-3 after two stanzas.
In the third it was all McGill as the visitors poured it on, putting four goals past sophomore netminder James Mello (Rehoboth, Mass.). Estoclet was the lone goal scorer for the Big Green as his strike had Dartmouth down by just one but two McGill goals with three minutes left put the game away.
Goalie Jody O'Neill (Nepean, Ont.) started the contest for Dartmouth as he gave up just one goal in 29 minutes of play. Mello came on midway through the second period and played the rest of the game.
The Big Green opens up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 30 with a 7:00 pm matchup with ECAC foe, Harvard in Thompson Arena.
