Rose, a freshman midfielder, was named the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week while Sutton, a senior back, earned a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week.
Dartmouth (8-6, 3-2 Ivy) picked up a critical Ivy win over Columbia, 2-0 on Sunday afternoon and defeated Vermont midweek, 3-0. The Big Green sits in third place in the Ivy standings while Harvard and Yale are tied for first at 4-1. Dartmouth plays the Crimson in Cambridge this Saturday.
Rose came into her own this week, making just her second and third collegiate starts in five appearances this year. She played a full 90 in the 2-0 win over Columbia and marked reigning Ivy Player of the Year Sophie Reiser, helping hold her to just two shots. Against Vermont, Rose helped Dartmouth dominate the Catamounts, holding them to one shot while putting two attempts on goal herself.
Sutton was solid in the backline and beyond in the pair of shutout wins. Against Columbia, Sutton came up big, scoring her first collegiate goal and the game-winner late in the first half to propel her team to an eventual 2-0 victory. After a fairly balanced first half, Sutton contributed to a defensive effort that held Columbia to just one shot in the entire second half and five total for the game. Sutton also contributed solid defense in the shutout of Vermont, holding the Catamounts to only one attempt in 90 minutes of play. The gritty senior has been key in a defense that sports a 1.05 goals against average.
Dartmouth heads down to Ivy rival Harvard this Saturday, Oct. 31 for an 11 a.m. start.
