HANOVER, N.H. - The eighth-ranked Dartmouth women's hockey team will take its four-game winning streak on the road this weekend for its last regular-season road trip as the Big Green head to Colgate and Cornell.
The weekend series kicks off on Friday night at Colgate with a 7 p.m. face-off, followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup at 4 p.m. against Cornell. The matchup with the Raiders can be seen live on Time Warner Cable in Central New York.
NATIONAL POLLS
Dartmouth remained in the eighth spot in this week's national poll. The only changes in the rankings came at the top as Minnesota edged out Wisconsin for the top spot, earning eight first-place votes to the Badgers' seven.
ECAC HOCKEY STANDINGS
The Big Green stands in second place with 28 points, just one point behind league-leading St. Lawrence. Harvard is back in the mix with seven-straight victories. The newcomer to the top four is Colgate, who was unbeaten in eight straight before falling to Princeton, but the Raiders rebounded with a 4-1 win at Quinnipiac.
LOOKING FOR NO. 9
Dartmouth enters this weekend with a chance to win its ninth Ivy League Championship as the Big Green takes on Cornell. Harvard will be facing the Big Red on Friday night and if both teams claim victory over Cornell, both schools will claim the Ivy Title. With a Dartmouth loss and a Harvard win, the Crimson win the title outright, but with a Big Green win and a Harvard loss Dartmouth can win its ninth banner.
ONE-GOAL GAMES
This past weekend was the first time Dartmouth played back-to-back one-goal games since 2006-07. The Big Green is 4-1 in single-goal games with the two wins last weekend and the single loss coming against Harvard in a 3-2 defeat on Dec. 17.
FINAL FRAME COMEBACK
For the seventh time this season, Dartmouth entered the final period trailing its opponent. With two third period goals against Yale the Big Green erased a one-goal deficit with two goals in the final nine minutes. It was only the second win this season when trailing going into the third period. Dartmouth is 2-4-1 when falling behind after two periods.
KEEPING THE WINS COMING
Dartmouth has had three separate winning streaks of four or more games this season. It first started with five-straight to begin the season and a four-game streak in the month of January. Currently, the Big Green is riding a four-game streak. Dartmouth does a great job putting wins together as the Big Green is 11-3-1 in games followed by a win.
PUTTING THE PUCK IN THE NET
With the continued success on the offensive end, Dartmouth continues to be the top team offensively in the league at 3.67 goals a game. Over the last nine games, Dartmouth has averaged 4.8 goals per game, including 2.2 on the power play alone. With the man-up success, Dartmouth has moved up to second in the conference with a 22.3 conversion rate.
NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION
Senior co-captain Shannon Bowman has been on a scoring tear in 2009. She had her season-high nine-game point streak stopped this weekend. During the streak, she posted three multi-point games and the streak was a team-high for this season. Her highest point total came in the win over Brown as she had a goal and two assists, which was a season-high. She is also the next one in line to reach 100 points in her career as she has 96 points in three-plus years. Bowman will become the third member of the team to reach the milestone this season.
