HANOVER, N.H. ? Dartmouth women's lacrosse junior goalkeeper Julie Wadland (Andover, Mass.) has been named to 2009 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, announced today by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation.
Recognized as the nation's pre-eminent lacrosse award, the Tewaaraton is presented annually to the top female and male collegiate lacrosse players in the United States. The student-athletes on the watch list were identified by the women's selection committee from a group nominated by players across the country.
Dartmouth's starting goalkeeper for the past two seasons, Wadland is coming off a solid sophomore campaign and an exciting off-season. As a sophomore she posted a 9.79 goals against average and made 113 saves in more than 900 minutes in the cage. This past summer Wadland was named to the United States National Developmental Team and is one of the youngest players in the US player pool and the youngest goalie in the group. This season Wadland is serving as a co-captain for Dartmouth.
Wadland and the #13 Big Green begin the 2009 campaign this Tuesday, Feb. 24 when they head to Vermont for a 3 p.m. start. Dartmouth's first home game is set for Saturday, Feb. 28 against instate rival #14 New Hampshire at noon.
