HANOVER, N.H. - Three incoming freshmen for the Dartmouth women's hockey team have continued to impress in their final seasons before joining the Big Green.
Sally Komarek and Lisa Berreman received accolades this past week as the two earned Minnesota All-State honors.
Berreman is a two-time selection who had 20 goals and 14 assists in leading Eagan High School to the state tournament and a sixth-place finish in Class AA. The Dartmouth recruit finished career with 167 points and was a finalist for Ms. Minnesota Hockey, which is given to the best girls hockey player in the state.. A five-year varsity player and multi-year team MVP. “She not only possesses the physical tools but also the intelligence to take over games when needed,” Wildcats assistant coach Jeff Kolehmainen said.
Komarek posted 50 goals and 30 assists in powering Blake High School to a Class A state title for the second time in three seasons. The Bears' all-time scoring leader finished her career with 130 goals and 119 assists for 249 points. Komarek is also a top-five finalist for Ms. Minnesota Hockey. “Sometimes during a game, I'll catch myself watching her weave some magic,” Bears coach Brano Stankovsky said. “I'm glad I don't have to defend against her.”
In addition to Komarek and Berreman, Sasha Nanji has also made her presence felt prior to joining the Big Green. She help lead her team in Mississauga to the Provincial Championship. Nanji netted a goal and an assist in the championship game and is 10th in the league in scoring as a defenseman. She also played for Team Ontario Blue in the Canadian U18 Championships.
