Abby Gillard '01
Abby Gillard '01 had a significant role in one of the finest eras in Dartmouth, playing in nearly every game from 1997-2000. A midfielder from Storrs, Conn., she helped the Big Green to the NCAA Tournament in three of her four seasons, winning at least one game in each trip. As a sophomore (1998) she helped the team to the NCAA Elite Eight. Dartmouth won a pair of Ivy Championships during her time in Hanover, in 1998 and 2000.
Current Location & Vocation: In her third and final year of graduate school at Columbia University in New York City, finishing her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Dartmouth Major: Classical Archaeology
Dartmouth Plan Off-Term Experiences: Worked on an archaelogical dig in Israel during her freshman summer, did the Classics Foreign Study Program in Greece during her sophomore spring, did a transfer term at Oxford University in her junior winter, and interned at a veterinary hospital in Connecticut during her off-term junior spring.
Favorite Darmouth Women's Soccer Season: I loved my senior season, though it was bittersweet because it was my last. I finally felt like all the pieces fit into place ? our team dynamic was great and a lot of the aspects of my game were improving after three years of hard work. It seemed like we all had so much more to give, if we only could have four more years. I'll never forget our road trip to my hometown, where we finally beat UConn after years of trying."
