HANOVER, N.H. ? Dartmouth women's lacrosse players
Kat Collins (Darien, Conn.) and
Colleen Olsen (Avon, Conn.) have been selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Northeast region teams.
Collins, a sophomore attack, earned a spot on the All-Northeast first team while Olsen, a junior defender, garnered All-Northeast second team honors.
The honors continue for Collins, who as a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection after a solid sophomore year on attack. In Ivy play, Collins led the league with 2.71 (19) goals and 3.86 (27) points per game and was one of the most feared offensive threats in the Northeast. Despite frequently being face-guarded, she was Dartmouth's leading scorer this season with 51 points including 38 goals. She was one of five players to start all 16 games. As a rookie, Collins earned honorable mention All-Ivy status.
A starter since her freshman year, Olsen had undoubtedly her finest season yet in a Dartmouth uniform, also earning All-Ivy second team accolades. Missing just one game and playing nearly every minute of the 15 contests she started, Olsen was the Big Green's top team defender. She ranked first in Ivy play in ground balls (3.57) and caused turnovers (2.0) per game and second and third, respectively, in those categories overall. Olsen led the Big Green in ground balls (42), caused turnovers (27) and ranked second in draw controls (24).
Earlier this week, Collins was named to the WomensLacrosse.com All-America third team while rookie
Sarah Parks (Ellicott City, Md.) was named to its National All-Rookie team.
Dartmouth closed out the 2009 campaign at 8-8, 5-2 Ivy, good for a third place finish. The team was ranked throughout the season, peaking at 13th nationally and finished at 17th. The Big Green played an impressive schedule that featured nine top-20 teams, five top-10 teams and three top-5 teams and rated the 11th strongest in the nation.
