Marshfield HS
Marshfield, Mass.
Sociology Major
A two-time All-Ivy honoree, the stalwart Hubbard returns for her fourth season after starting 43 of 46 games in the last three seasons. She has 11 career points and is a versatile midfielder, contributing both offensively and defensively.
What are your goals for this season: Every game is the most important game of our season at the time we play it, and we can't lose sight of that. We need to go into every game we play with the same sense of urgency and desire to win.
I appreciate my teammates: On and off of the soccer field. They are all hard-working, loyal, and considerate teammates and friends, and I'm truly grateful to have them around 24/7. (Hopefully the feeling is mutual.)
Favorite thing about Dartmouth Soccer: Being surrounded by individuals who have so much in common. Aside from our (stellar) collective taste in music/sense of humor, everyone is competitive (almost to a fault; we almost had a fight break out during our team Jeopardy game...), and we constantly challenge each other on the field to perform at our highest level. I can't think of anything more gratifying than the friendships and memories established by being apart of such an amazing team.
What's the best part of a team road trip: The restaurants, movies on the bus, and the occasional stand-up musical performances.
Before every game I: Listen to my Ipod (usually the “soccer” playlist...creative), eat a healthy/hearty meal, drink a Berry/Strawberry-Kiwi Propel, and get mentally ready to play. There are also some pre-game team rituals that occur before every game. Top secret.
Why
you wear #6: I
was given my number as an incoming freshman, and we fell in love. We've been
going strong ever since.
Do you live with any of your teammates: Thea “T-Sut” Sutton.
Favorite hangout spot at Dartmouth: The Green, our locker room, or any dining spot on campus.
What would you bring from home to Hanover: Marylou's Coffee Shop (best iced coffees...it may have a one-up on Dunkies), the beach, and my favorite restaurant, Haddad's Ocean Cafe.
Why Dartmouth: Why not? It's perfect. The people, the campus, and both the academics and athletics are ideal, and I feel so fortunate to be here.
Most interesting course I have taken at Dartmouth: Technology in Homeland Security
Dream job: Being on Sportscenter as an anchorwoman/reporter. The thought of getting paid to attend professional sporting events and interview professional athletes sounds like the ultimate dream to me.
Three things you'd want with you on a deserted island:
1. Unlimited supply of coffee
2. A knife to “hunt” with (in case my personal strength/willpower doesn't suffice)
3. A towel/blanket.
Most influential person in my life: My mom, for too many reasons to list.
Favorite quote: “In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” -Bill Cosby
Top-5 songs on your playlist right now:
“Come on Get Higher” by Matt Nathanson
“Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon
“Night Moves” by Bob Seger
“Queen B” by Rich Price
“Take a Minute” by K'Naan.
Something most people don't know about me: I have a heart-shaped birthmark on my right arm.
My motto: Work your hardest, be honest, have faith, and have fun; good things will follow.
