BOSTON, MASS. — Despite resting most of its top runners in preparation for the Ivy Heptagonal Championship, the Dartmouth men's cross country team finished fourth (153 points) at the Mayor's Cup on Sunday. The race featured mostly sponsored club teams, but the Big Green still placed three in the top 30 and five in the top 45.
Steve Mangan (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) placed 22nd and crossed the finish line at 25:17. The freshman improved his time 40 seconds since he last competed at the New England Championship. Junior Jake Shoemaker (Sudbury, Mass.) placed 25th with a time of 25:22. The third best Dartmouth runner was sophomore Mike Danaher (Clifton Park, N.Y.). He finished 28th at 25:28.
