HANOVER, NH - After earning All-ECAC Hockey honors yesterday, senior co-captain Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) was named first team All-Ivy for the first time in her career and was the lone senior to be selected.
Parsons had only been voted onto an All-Ivy team once before and it came as a second team selection back in 2008 in her second season for the Big Green. She was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a freshman, but didn't make the first team. She had her best season since that 50-point year back in 2006-07. Her 40 points on 20 goals and 20 assists led the Ivy League and her 20 scores were a new career-high in a Big Green uniform. Fifteen of the 40 points came in conference play, which put her tied for third. Parsons finished the year on a six-game point streak and led the team with 13 multi-point games and had five in the last nine games of the year.
She concluded her career with 156 total points, which places her eighth all-time. The 66 goals she scored in her career made the top-10, while her 90 helpers are tied with Carly Haggard '03 for seventh all-time. Parsons was a key on the power play as well. She was tied with fellow senior co-captain Jenna Cunningham (Medicine Hat, Alta.) with six tallies on the year.
Cornell led the way with the most first teamers with four, including the Ivy League Player of the Year in sophomore Catherine White and the Ivy League Rookie of the Year Lauriane Rougeau. Harvard's Kate Buesser and the Big Red's Laura Fortino were the only players to be unanimously selected to the first team.
