HANOVER, N.H. - After a 2-0 week including a win at #8 Notre Dame, Dartmouth's Greta Meyer (Denver, Colo.) and Julie Wadland (Andover, Mass.) have been named the Ivy League Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
Meyer was also honored on the national stage as the Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week.
Ranked 20th this week, the Big Green picked up a 22-2 win over Vermont midweek and a 12-8 victory at #8 Notre Dame on Sunday.
Meyer, a junior midfielder, had a 13 point week with five goals and eight assists, leading the Big Green with efficient and unselfish playmaking. She put all but one of her seven shots on goal and converting on five of those for scores. She also dished out a total of eight assists, grabbed four ground balls and had four caused turnovers. Meyer started the week with a career-best eight-point effort in Dartmouth's 22-2 win over Vermont on including three goals and a career-high five assists. She kept up her impressive play against the Irish, tallying five points on two goals, including the game-winner, and three assists along with three caused turnovers. On the season, Meyer leads Dartmouth with 16 points and a sizzling 84.6 shot on goal percentage.
Wadland, Dartmouth's senior goalie, proved why she was named to the Tewaaraton Trophy watch list this week, turning in a 5.35 goals against average in the two wins. Wadland made 14 saves total on the week, more than goals allowed, and also grabbed seven ground balls. Against Vermont, though she was not overtly tested, Wadland made two saves and helped successfully clear the ball 79 percent of the time, holding the Catamounts to just two goals and shutting them out in the second half. Wadland shined at Notre Dame, making 12 saves including eight second-half stops for the Big Green. She also picked up five ground balls and one caused turnover in the road win. On the season, Wadland sports a paltry 6.62 goals against average and 54.8 save percentage for the season.
Dartmouth is in the midst of a 10-day layoff for final exams, and will return to competition on Wednesday, March 17 against Columbia at 12 p.m. in Hanover.
