Alex Huestis (Swarthmore, Pa.), SR, D
Senior Alex Huestis has been an important part of Dartmouth's defensive corps since her freshman season, playing in 41 games to date with 19 starts. Huestis has tallied 44 ground balls, 26 caused turnovers and 19 draw controls and picked up her first collegiate point, an assist, in last year's win over Columbia. Off the field, Huestis is an art history major who spent the fall of 2008 volunteering as an English teacher in Bagamoyo, Tanzania, where they speak Swahili.
What are your goals for the season: We have a bunch of smaller team goals but I'd love to win an Ivy Championship.
I appreciate my teammates: Sense of adventure. In Australia last winter a group of us went sky diving on our free day.
Favorite thing about Dartmouth Lacrosse: The sense of tradition
What's the best part of a team road trip: I'm really looking forward to our bus entertainment. Before every away game a group of people are in charge of entertaining the team when we drive to the field.
Why you wear #10: No specific reason. I actually always wore number 20 in high school because it was my Dad's number.
Before every game I: Listen to music
Do you live with any of your teammates: Not this year. I live with eight other senior girls.
Why Dartmouth: It's hard to explain. I felt comfortable as soon as I was on campus.
Favorite hangout spot at Dartmouth: The Green - When the weather is warm
What would you bring from home to Hanover: I would bring my 11 year old brother, Will, up.
Dream job: I'm really excited for my job for next year. I'm doing a Dartmouth post-graduate internship in the Marshall Islands- a group of 29 tiny islands in the South Pacific. I'll be teaching elementary school and working on community development.
Most interesting course I have taken at Dartmouth: Public Policy 82- Economics of Education Policy
Most influential person in my life: It's hard to pick one, probably my mom and dad
Three things you'd want with you on a deserted island:
A bathing suit, sunscreen and a towel
Favorite quote: “Life” - Chelsea Kirk
Something most people don't know about me:
I'm pretty bad at anything musical. I'm a really bad singer and can't play any musical instruments
