WORCESTER, MASS. - The Dartmouth lightweight crew sent its varsity, novice and second novice eight boats to Grand Finals at the EARC Eastern Sprints, with the varsity finishing fourth.
After taking third in its heat in a time of 5:38.743, the varsity returned to the Grand Final for the third time in the last four years after missing out last season. Dartmouth ultimately took fourth in a time of 5:46.021 in the final, just edging Navy and former coach Steve Perry as well as Ivy foe Penn. Princeton won the race in a time of 5:41.149.
Dartmouth's rookies had a solid day as well, finishing third in the novice eight heat and advancing to the Grand Final, taking sixth place in a time of 6:07.215. Cornell ran away with the race in 5:48.454. The second novice eight also raced in a Grand Final race, without a preliminary heat, taking fourth in a time of 6:16.5, with Navy winning in 6:05.1.
The second varsity eight advanced to the Petite Final, which it won in a time of 6:02.715, beating both Georgetown and Columbia in the three boat race.
