Hanover, N.H. - Dartmouth women's soccer head coach Angie Hind has announced the hiring of Kelly Kuss as an assistant coach.
Kuss, a 2006 graduate of Colgate University, joins Hind and assistant Michelle Barr, both entering their sixth season, on the Dartmouth sideline this fall.
"I am thrilled to have Kelly join our coaching staff and
believe her playing and coaching experience teamed with her genuine passion and
enthusiasm for the game will bring a lot to our coaching staff,
student-athletes' experience and soccer program overall," said Hind.
Since graduation, Kuss has spent three seasons as an assistant coach for
the women's soccer team at Amherst College, where she helped the program
advance in the NCAA Tournament twice. In 2008, her second season, Amherst
reached the NCAA Elite Eight and ranked fifth nationally in the NSCAA Division
III poll. This past season, 2009, Amherst advanced to the Round of 32 and
ranked 19th nationally.
Kuss was a standout athlete in her own right at Colgate, ranking eighth all time in career points with 77 and fifth in assists with 23, starting 74 of 75 career games. She was named second team All-Patriot League in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and served as team captain in both 2005 and 2006. In 2004, Kuss led Colgate to the Patriot League regular season and tournament championships, earning Tournament MVP honors. The Raiders went on to upset #13 Arizona in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
She holds both her National Diploma and Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Kuss graduated from Colgate with a bachelor's degree in education and geology, earning Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status twice. In 2010, she earned her master's degree in higher education administration from UMass Amherst.
Dartmouth women's soccer has won six Ivy League Championships and advanced to 10 NCAA Tournaments, with two Sweet 16 appearances and one Elite Eight appearance.
