HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's hockey team is ready for the 2010-11 season as head coach Mark Hudak has announced his captain, assistant captains and season schedule.
Senior defenseman Katie Horner (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) has been named the 64th captain for the Big Green women's hockey program. Horner has made 78 appearances in a green uniform. She has notched seven points, all assists during her time in Hanover. Last season she demonstrated leadership abilities seeing time as a forward due to injuries on the team. Horner has missed just five games during her career.
Two juniors and a sophomore have been selected the assistant captains. Juniors Jenna Hobeika (Alpine, N.J.) and Kelly Foley (Boston, Mass.) along with sophomore Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.) will be called on to assist Horner.
Hobeika has played in 37 games in two years. The forward has amassed 13 points with 12 of those coming in her sophomore campaign. Foley suffered an injury last season, appearing in only 15 games. She has 37 points in her career and is looking to anchor four solid forward lines. Fischer has played just one season for the Big Green, tallying 26 points in all 34 games played. The forward led all freshmen in scoring in 2008-09.
Hudak also announced Dartmouth's schedule for the upcoming season. The Big Green will play its first three games at home with an exhibition and two ECAC Hockey games with Brown and Yale to begin the season. Two straight weekends of league play highlight the start of November before Dartmouth comes home for its first nonconference game against Providence. Back-to-back contests with Harvard before a trip to Boston College will wrap up the month. Just two away games on the schedule in December as the Big Green will travel to UNH and Vermont before coming back from the Christmas break with two games at home against the University of Connecticut.
January will consist of two league weekends at home with two league weekends on the road as Dartmouth will square off with Rensseler, Union, Clarkson, St. Lawrence, Yale and Brown during that stretch. Quinnipiac and Princeton travel to Thompson Arena to begin the month of February before the team hits the road for the last regular-season road swing through the North Country at St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Wrapping up the home schedule will be Cornell and Colgate.
Dartmouth's full schedule can be found here.
