My name is Ellie Clayton and I'm from Hingham, Massachusetts.
I'm a Psychology major at Dartmouth with a minor in Sociology. Two months ago I
ventured off on my own to Florence, Italy, where I've been
interning at Pirene
S.r.l., an event planning and marketing company.
The first month in Florence I spent traveling around Italy, getting to know the cities and better understand the Italian culture. My most memorable trips were to Venice and the Amalfi Coast, both very unique cities. I really enjoyed walking around and getting lost in Venice, crossing all the bridges and taking the water taxis down the Grand Canal. My trip to the Amalfi Coast included Sorrento, Positano, Capri, and Pompeii. In Capri, I visited the Blue Grotto, a sea cave on the coast that is one of the seven natural wonders of Europe. The sunlight passes through an underwater cavity, creating a blue reflection in the cave that is indescribable.
Last week, teammate Casey Griffin came to visit from Barcelona,
Spain with our friends on the men's lacrosse team, Robbie Hoffman, Chris Costabile, JP Garry, Anthony Fulham and Johnny Carson. It was great to
finally see some familiar faces and be able to show them around Florence. Then
this past weekend I met up with Casey in Dublin, Ireland where we stayed with
some friends from home, who
showed us around the city.
Before my off-term is over, I'll be traveling a little more, meeting up with everyone in Paris, Chamonix, and Amsterdam and spending my last week in Italy with my Mom! It's all going by so quickly but I can't say I've had a bad experience yet. I've loved getting to meet new people, see new places and become immersed in the Italian culture.
Ciao for now!!
