ALBANY, N.Y. - Junior forward Dustin Walsh (Shannonville, Ontario) has been selected as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week for his performances against Quinnipiac and Princeton this past weekend.
Walsh scored twice and assisted on three others, including the game winner Friday against the Bobcats, to finish the week with five points total.
Against Quinnipiac, Walsh scored the team's opening goal 16:03 into the first period. He also helped start the play on the game-winning goal with 1:29 remaining as he pushed the puck around the backboards to Brandon McNally (Saugus, Mass.) who found Connor Goggin (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) at the point for the booming shot.
The following night against Princeton, Walsh again scored a first-period goal to help the Big Green take the 2-1 lead 7:21 in. A beautiful play by Walsh that started in the neutral zone before ending along the halfboards set up freshman Tyler Sikura (Aurora, Ontario) for the eventual game-winning goal 13:37 into the third period.
He closed out the weekend with an unselfish play to find McNally in the slot for the empty-net goal to seal the win, 5-3, over the Tigers.
Walsh leads the team with seven points (2g/5a) in four games this season. This is his first Player of the Week award of his career.
